E {53} An-Najm.
53:31. And to Allah belongs all that is in the heavens
and all that is in the earth, so that He may recompense those who do evil with
what they have done (i.e., punish them in Hell), and reward those who do good,
with what is best (i.e., Paradise).
BRIEF TAFSIR (53:31),
Everything in the heavens and the earth belongs to Allah.
He knows all human deeds and will justly reward everyone according to their
actions: evil for wrongdoing and goodness for those who do good.
Lesson: Every action matters, and Allah's judgment is
perfectly just.
.
53:32. Those who avoid the great sins and Al-Fawahish
(illegal sexual intercourse, etc.) except the small faults — verily, your Lord
is of vast forgiveness. He knows you well when He created you from the earth
(Adam), and when you were fetuses in your mothers’ wombs. So ascribe not purity
to yourselves. He knows best who fears Allah and keeps his duty to Him (i.e.,
those who are Al-Muttaqun).
BRIEF TAFSIR (53:32),
This verse describes those who avoid major sins and
shameful deeds. Allah's forgiveness is vast, and He knows humanity from the
very beginning of creation.
Therefore, do not declare yourselves pure or superior.
Allah alone knows who is truly righteous.
.
53:33. Did you (O Muhammad ﷺ) observe the one who turned
away (from Islam)?
BRIEF TAFSIR (53:33),
This verse draws attention to those who turn away from
Allah's guidance and reminders. It warns against rejecting the truth despite
having the opportunity to recognise it.
Lesson: Keep an open heart towards the truth and never
turn away from Allah's guidance.
.
53:34. And gave a little, then stopped (giving)?
BRIEF TAFSIR (53:34),
This verse describes someone who gives a little and then
stops giving. It highlights the attitude of withholding generosity and turning
away from righteousness.
Lesson: Give sincerely and continue doing good according
to your ability.
.
53:35. Does he have knowledge of the unseen so that he
sees?
BRIEF TAFSIR (53:35),
This verse questions whether the person who turns away
possesses knowledge of the unseen and can actually see it.
Knowledge of the unseen belongs to Allah. Human knowledge
is limited to what Allah allows them to know.
Lesson: Do not claim knowledge beyond what you truly
know.
.
53:36. Or has he not been informed of what was in the
Scriptures of Musa (Moses)?
BRIEF TAFSIR (53:36),
Allah reminds mankind of the revelations given to Prophet
Musa (AS). They contain divine guidance, commandments and reminders about human
responsibility before Allah.
.
53:37. And of Ibrahim (Abraham) who fulfilled (all that
he was commanded to do)?
BRIEF TAFSIR (53:37),
Allah reminds mankind of the scriptures given to Prophet
Ibrahim (AS), who faithfully fulfilled his duties and commands from Allah.
.
53:38. That no bearer of burden (sins) shall bear the
burden (sins) of another.
BRIEF TAFSIR (53:38),
Allah establishes the principle of individual
accountability. No soul bears the sins of another. Everyone is responsible for
their own deeds, including the consequences of misleading others.
.
53:39. And that man can have nothing but what he has
earned (good or bad).
BRIEF TAFSIR (53:39),
Allah teaches that every person is accountable for their
own efforts and deeds. True success requires faith, sincere effort and
righteous actions.
.
53:40. And that his deeds will be shown (to him).
BRIEF TAFSIR (53:40),
Allah explains that every person's efforts and deeds will
be revealed on the Day of Judgement. Nothing is hidden from Him, and everyone
will witness the consequences of their actions.
